Why I Love Banished
I love Banished for a different reason than most of the strategy games I play. For me, it is a game I can play to relax.
There is something peaceful about starting with a small group of people and slowly watching their settlement become a living village. People build homes, work as farmers, hunters, blacksmiths, teachers and other professions, raise families and grow old. You manage their food, resources, health and happiness while preparing the settlement for winters and unexpected disasters.
Sometimes I simply enjoy watching the villagers go about their lives. It almost feels like looking after a little village of your own.
But beneath that peaceful atmosphere, Banished is also an excellent resource-management and survival strategy game. Expanding too quickly, running short of food or poorly managing your population can turn a successful settlement into a disaster. Every new village therefore becomes its own little story.
